The metro is the spine of the city. Line A runs the length of the valley and serves Sabaneta, Envigado, Itagüí and El Poblado, so being near a station matters more than being near the centre.

Which part of Medellín should you stay in?
Medellín runs the length of the Aburrá Valley, and where to stay depends less on the map than on the metro: Line A crosses the valley end to end in about 42 minutes and serves Sabaneta, Envigado, Itagüí and La Estrella alongside every station in the city itself.
El Poblado is the tourist area: restaurants, cafés and nightlife, busy until late from Thursday to Sunday. Sabaneta and Envigado are their own municipalities in the south, each with a metro station and real neighbourhood life. Laureles and Estadio are residential, flat and walkable, with far less tourism.
MÍA Houses manages furnished apartments in those areas and in La Floresta, Calasanz and Girardota too, with the largest concentration in Sabaneta. There are short stays by the night and long stays with a 15 or 28-night minimum, which is what people coming for work, for medical treatment or for several months usually need. José María Córdova airport is a 40 to 60 minute drive.

Getting around from Medellín
Line A crosses the valley end to end in about 42 minutes and serves Envigado, Itagüí, Sabaneta and La Estrella alongside every Medellín station. If your apartment is near a station, traffic stops being your problem.
José María Córdova airport in Rionegro is a 40 to 60 minute drive depending on traffic and time of day. Olaya Herrera, inside the city, handles regional flights and is far closer.

- El Poblado The tourist area: Provenza, Parque Lleras, restaurants and nightlife. Busy until late.
- Laureles and Estadio Residential Medellín, flat and walkable, with plenty of shops and far less tourism than El Poblado.
- Envigado Next to Sabaneta and also on the metro. Quiet and well connected.
- La Floresta and Calasanz The west of the city, residential and close to metro stations.
