We are a design team that also manages what it designs. Every call on furniture, lighting and layout is made knowing who will sleep there, what breaks with use and what ends up in the reviews.
Interior design for short-term rentals furnishes and styles a property knowing a different guest will live in it every few days, rather than one family for years. That changes the decisions: materials are chosen for heavy use and frequent cleaning, the layout for how many people can sleep comfortably without the place feeling crowded, and the styling for how it reads in the first photo of the listing, which is where the booking is won or lost.
MÍA Houses designs and furnishes these spaces in Medellín and its metropolitan area (Sabaneta, Envigado, El Poblado, Laureles), in eastern Antioquia and in Cartagena. The difference from a conventional design studio is that we go on to operate much of what we design: we see the occupancy, the wear and what guests actually write, and that feedback corrects the next project instead of staying a hunch.
WHAT IT COVERS
An idea of its own for the space, aligned with the owner’s vision and with the kind of guest it will host. There is no template repeated from one project to the next.
How many guests can sleep well, where each bed goes and which shared areas are needed. Capacity sets the nightly rate, so it is decided first.
Selection, quoting and buying of the furniture. The owner approves the purchase plan before a single peso is spent.
Linen, kitchenware, appliances and everything a guest expects to find, which almost never appears in a residential design project.
When the space already exists and needs work before furniture: paint, joinery, lighting, bathrooms and kitchen.
Final styling of the space and the photos it will be listed with. Good design badly photographed does not sell nights.
HOW WE WORK
We go to the property, measure it and talk through what is expected of it: short stays, long stays, your own home or a sale.
We present the design proposal together with the purchase plan and its cost. Nothing is bought until you approve both.
We coordinate the works, the purchases, the deliveries and the styling. You do not chase suppliers or take delivery of trucks.
We hand over the space styled and photographed. If you also want us to run it, that is where property management begins, as a separate service.
SEGMENTS
Short-term rentals are where our volume is, but the same team takes on other kinds of project. Here is what we have done and what we can back it with today.
We have designed venues, where sound, lighting and how people move through the room outrank the styling. It is a different brief from residential: the space has to survive full nights and look right in low light.
Large houses outside the city, built for groups and for stays of several days. The priorities change: generous shared areas, outdoor space that actually gets used, and furniture that stands up to humidity and sun.
See the Guatapé houseProjects where one concept has to repeat across many rooms without feeling like a chain hotel, and where every decision is multiplied by the number of units. Our hospitality operating experience counts for most here.
Show apartments, tower-wide furnishing and amenity rooms for developers. The goal is not that it looks pretty during the viewing, it is that the buyer understands how the space is lived in.
The house you are going to live in, without the returns calculation. Here the owner’s taste leads, and the work is turning it into concrete decisions about layout, materials and furniture.
For several of these projects we do not yet have photos we can publish. If one of them is what you need, write to us and we will tell you what we have done and show you what we can.
REAL PROJECTS
These are not renders or reference boards. They are apartments and houses MÍA designed, furnished and manages today, with their real photos and their public Airbnb reviews.

Homes too. We design residences, short- and long-stay apartments, boutique hotels, offices and commercial spaces. What sets us apart is the short-term rental experience, because that is the kind of project we also operate afterwards, but the service is not limited to it.
Medellín and its metropolitan area, including Sabaneta, Envigado, El Poblado and Laureles, plus eastern Antioquia and Cartagena. These are the same areas where we manage properties, which is why we know the suppliers, lead times and local costs.
No. Design and management are two independent services and can be hired separately. Many owners take both because the same team that designed the space is the one answering for it afterwards, but it is not a condition.
It depends on the size of the property, how many guests it will host and whether building work is involved. That is why we do not publish a rate: it is quoted after the visit, with a detailed purchase plan you approve before anything is spent.
Yes, and it is a common case. We keep what works, replace what looks worn in the photos and fix what is hurting the reviews. It is usually considerably cheaper than starting from scratch.
Tell us which property it is and what you want from it. The first conversation costs nothing.
